Animal Farm

George Orwell

⭐⭐⭐

satire ・ classic ・thinker ・not-so-happily ever after

George Orwell's "Animal Farm" was written in 1944 about events that happened 20 years before then, and yet people still find joy in reading it to this day. Readers find relevance and emotion and thrill in the tiny story. You may be wondering how Orwell wrote a book so captivating that it has remained a classic for decades. The secret is in the story... Readers dive in to the lives of farm animals fighting to survive hunger, exhaustion, and a negligent farmer; who are rethinking their ways from chapter one. Through much hardship, the animals claim the farm for themselves, only for their leaders to become the thing they had set out to destroy. On the surface, this book is rather dull and doesn't have a very thrilling plot. However, those of us with a keen sense of history will note the eloquently detailed and finely tuned parallel to the Russian revolution. Because of the clever metaphor throughout the book, Orwell has earned himself a few stars, as well as for his brilliant diction. However, the book can be dry and somewhat predictable, so a couple stars were unfortunately deducted from today's review.
