The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner
Stephenie Meyer
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
fantasy ・ spinoff ・insightful ・not-so-happily ever after
This spinoff from Stephenie Meyer's "Eclipse" is a fascinating insight into the life-or existence, rather- of Bree Tanner. Readers will come to sympathize with the dangerous newborn and gain a whole new perspective on the vampire world of "Twilight". I enjoyed every page of the novella not only because I gained an inside look at Bree's personal life before her final run-in with the Volturi, but also because it is the only exposure to real cold-blooded newborn vampire life I've ever read as a "Twilight" fan. Bree was an abused runaway turned immortal, forced to survive in a pack of distrustful, hungry, raging vampires. She finds a few friends along her journey of uncovering the secrets kept hidden by her creator, a no-name woman looking for revenge. If you have read the "Twilight" series, I'm urging you to take an hour or two to get to know Bree and her unfortunate second life.
Recommended for: Stephenie Meyer/Twilight lovers, vampire fans
