As a boy, Leib Lezjon could have never figured he would someday be an American man by the name of Leon. His life couldn't have been more innocent or happy in his small hometown, surrounded by family and friends. And when he came to an up and coming city where his father worked, Leib was on cloud nine! But when Leib and his family were moved from their home in a city they considered fabulous- after all, it had indoor plumbing, factories, and public transportation- to a ghetto reserved for Jews, they could only hope they would survive the disease, famine, and brutality another day. The members of his family that survived the ghetto were separated when they were forced into a concentration camp. Despite the horror and terror of living in a camp, the Lezjon family did their best to stay together however they could. With the help of Oskar Schindler and his famous list of Jews that he devoted his life to saving, most of the family was able to survive and live happy lives after they were freed from the Nazi reign of terror. It is with luck, determination, strength, and help that Leon Leyson was able to not only survive and create a life for himself, but also share his story with readers like you and me. This book is a great read that I recommend to anyone who's reading this!
